Andrew Gilbert serves as executive vice president and president of Qualcomm Internet Services (QIS), MediaFLO Technologies (MFT), and Qualcomm Europe. QIS enables mobile retailing solutions and Internet services that accelerate consumer adoption and usage of mobile data worldwide. MediaFLO Technologies is the Qualcomm division responsible for the development of the MediaFLO System, comprised of the MediaFLO Media Distribution System (MDS) and FLO™ Technology, both of which are specifically designed to optimize the delivery of multimedia and address the inherent challenges associated with mobile content delivery.
In his role, Gilbert provides strategic direction and oversight of all business development and operational activity in Europe. Gilbert is also responsible for globally leading QIS and MFT; core Qualcomm businesses, as services represent a key growth area for Qualcomm. Gilbert is also an officer of the company and serves as a member of Qualcomm's executive committee.
Prior to joining Qualcomm, Gilbert served as vice president and general manager of Flarion Technologies' European, Middle Eastern and African regions (EMEA), responsible for EMEA strategy and operations. His leadership contributions have resulted in guiding Flarion's European business through technical and commercial validation with global operators such as T-Mobile and Vodafone, and ultimately to multiple commercial deployments of mobile OFDM. In over 20 years in telecommunications he has held positions in companies including Motorola and Racal.
